With ten escapees still on the run, police yesterday again appealed for assistance in capturing the fugitives from the Georgetown Prison jailbreak and Monday’s escape from the Lusignan penitentiary.
Clive Forde, called ‘El Sinkie’, Kendall Skeete, Paul Goriah, Shawn Harris, called ‘Shawny’, Pascal Smith, Kerry Cromwell, Mark Royden Durant, called ‘Royden Williams’ and ‘Smallie’, Stafrei Alexander Hopkinson, Uree Varswyck called Malcolm Gordon, and Cobena Stephens called ‘OJ,’ are wanted by the police for questioning in relation to escaping from lawful custody from the Georgetown and Lusignan Prisons.
“The Guyana Police Force in its efforts to recapture the inmates, is appealing to members of the public, relatives and friends to give any relevant information as to the whereabouts of these escapees so that they can be captured and returned to the prison.
“Also, an appeal is being made to the escapees to surrender to the police or relevant authority, to avoid any serious confrontation that is likely to result in the use of force. All information will be treated with a high degree of confidence and also the rights of those escapees will be respected and upheld.
Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the aforementioned individuals are asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-8196, 225-2227, 227-1149, 226-7065, 911 or the nearest police station.
On Monday, 13 prisoners staged a daring, pre-dawn breakout from the Lusignan Prison holding area, after crawling through a five-foot long tunnel they had dug near a makeshift latrine.
Seven of them were nabbed hours later.
The jailbreak occurred just over a week after eight inmates escaped from the Georgetown Prison during a devastating fire that razed most of the penitentiary.
