Body of murdered sawmill operator found at Mabura
The body of an 18-year-old sawmill operator was found on Saturday at 38 Miles Mabura Trail, Upper Demerara.
Police said the victim, identified as 18-year-old Devon Murray, of Lot 1331 B Field, Sophia, has a wound to the neck and that his murder occurred sometime between 20:30hrs and 05:30 hrs on June 22.
Murray was reportedly slain during a confrontation with another individual, who allegedly made sexual advances to the sawmill operator’s girlfriend.
Reports indicate that after the two had an altercation, the suspect used a cutlass to commit the act.
The teen’s body is presently at the Mackenzie Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination. The suspect remains at large.
