Dear Editor,
It was very dismaying to learn from my friends in the sugar industry that GuySuCo all of a sudden has decided to seemingly abandon its Honour Roll function which came into being in 1977. That annual activity saw dedicated, hard-working sugar workers honoured by the Corporation for their good performance at work. It was an activity that many workers eagerly looked forward to as they joined in recognizing their peers for their worthwhile contribution and effort.
Editor even worse was that the Corporation, based on what I was told, did not even offer an explanation for its decision. But in a most crude form, told workers, through a notice, that the activity was simply discontinued. While GuySuCo speaks in the press and other public forums about the importance of its employees clearly we are seeing a different approach being taken in this instance. As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words.
