A 53-year-old woman, her two sons and her paramour were yesterday charged for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Gloria David, her two sons, Dwayne, 23, and Dellon David, 24, together with her lover, Mexford London, all of Timmers Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, appeared at the Albion Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Marissa Mettleholzer to answer to the charge.
On Tuesday at Timmers Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, the members of the group had in their possession 1,735 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Dwayne David pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and fined $347,000.
Dellon David and Mexford London were both granted bail in the sum of $120,000 each after pleading not guilty However Gloria David who also pleaded not guilty was granted bail in the sum of $60,000 after citing a medical condition.
Acting on information, ranks attached to the Central Police Station conducted a raid at the home of Gloria David. At the time of the search there were three occupants at home, Gloria, Dellon and London.
During the search a white plastic parcel was found containing seeds, stems and leaves. Further checks were made in the yard and a black plastic bag was discovered. It contained the same contents as the first bag found in the compartment under the seat of a motorcycle that was left in the care of Dellon. They were all taken into custody.
The contents were examined and when weighed, were confirmed as cannabis weighing 1,735g.
The following day, Dwayne visited the Central Police Station and admitted ownership of the cannabis stating that the other occupants had no knowledge of it.
