The Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors boxing competition has attracted an influx of overseas female referee/judges coming to Guyana to officiate.
So far three female officials from around the region are expected in Guyana starting on Tuesday. AIBA One Star Julie Bonnet will represent St Lucia and arrivers here Tuesday afternoon.
Cayman Islands’ Leyla Jackson and American Kelly Pope are expected in later in the week.
The three will join locals Ramona Agard, Nicola Yhap, Denola Bristol and Naomi Wilson to create a competent group to officiate in the second edition of the tournament.
Trinidadian ‘King’ James Beckles , the English speaking Caribbean’s lone AIBA Three Star Referee/Judge is also expected in Guyana on Tuesday afternoon. Beckles will host a three-day seminar commencing on the same day of his arrival.
The three-day tournament punches off on Friday at the National Gymnasium. Already Barbados, Jamaica, St Lucia, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago have registered to participate.
