Dear Editor,
With respect, I suggest that Vincent Alexander clammed up on the various accusations, statements, complaints, re-examinations et al, of past incidents and matters and the plethora of accusations being hurled. Why would I say so?
1. The matters are old and with the passage of time memory and restatements would create more differences in the reality of the past
2. Vincent Alexander is no longer in the position of Registrar, therefore the matters are for the University itself to deal with and settle
3. With complainants going public, that smacks of personal grievances and not university grievances
4. Vincent Alexander would appear to have a right of media passage, for his responses appears to head to the top of the letter queue for printing, so to us the general public a fair observation is ‘how come his letters get published so quickly?’
I am of the Guyanese mentality and from the olden days and that is that, when you see someone is being accused and that someone has ‘nuff mouth’, nah doubt dat something wrang’. In my years of working in senior positions, I inherited matters from my predecessors. Normal management systems applied and one had to deal with the inheritances. When finality comes, favourable or unfavourable, you become the person in the spotlight. With all his knowledge and experience, Vincent Alexander appears to fall within my last two comments.
