Former murder accused, Shelton John Bowen was yesterday remanded to prison for the murder
of Mark Ifill, who he allegedly stabbed to death during a heated row over an illegal connection from which they were collecting water.
Bowen, 42, a security guard of Lot 2 Water Street, Bagotstown was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that on April 25, at Water Street, Bagotstown, he murdered Ifill also called Yankee.
He was remanded to prison until May 18.
According to reports, the two men were involved in a heated altercation over the removal of a water pipe by Ifill from the Bowen’s yard. As a result they ended up in a fight during which the accused lashed Ifill to his head with an object.
It is alleged that Bowen went away, returned with a knife, and stabbed Ifill in the region of the heart. The injured man managed to run a short distance but collapsed. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Back in 2012, Bowen along with another man was charged with the murder of Mark Solomon, who was stabbed to death during a row at a Fisheries operation at McDoom, East Bank Demerara. He was subsequently acquitted.
