Woman remanded for killing brother in drunken rage
Twenty five-year-old Debbie Hansraj has been remanded to prison for allegedly stabbing her brother

to death during a drunken argument.
Hansraj, who resides at Grove, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that between April 17 and April 18 at Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, she murdered Vishaul Hansraj, her brother.
Kaieteur News understands that Vishaul confronted his sister after she had allegedly inflicted a wound on their mother, Sumintra Brijmohan, with a knife. According to reports, a heated argument broke out between the siblings during which his sister stabbed him twice with a knife. Both of them were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
Vishaul was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Police Prosecutor disclosed that a total of 14 witnesses inclusive of police ranks and civilians will be called to testify during the preliminary inquiry. Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan instructed Debbie Hansraj to return to court on May 18.
