Dear Editor,
The theme for Carifesta XIII slated for staging in Barbados August 17 – 27, is “Asserting Our Culture, Celebrating Ourselves.” With this ‘Interesting Theme’ I hereby suggest to Hon. Minister Nicolette Henry and the Carifesta Planning Committee that we (Guyana) have the ‘Short Profiles and Picture’ on a single card, of eight (8) ‘Living Guyanese Steelband Legends’.
I propose their names in random order:
1. Roy Geddes AA MS
2. Rudy ‘Boysie’ Bishop MS (USA based)
3. Calvin Whyte MS
4. Phil Solomon aka Philbert Moore or Philo (USA based)
5. Aubrey Bryan (UK based)
6. Frank ‘Gerion’ Lynch
7. Ivan Chapman
8. Compton ‘Camo’ Williams
This card will be placed on Guyana’s merchandise desk (table) for the purpose of both display and distribution.
