The capture of Cortez Fraser, a former national junior athlete, now notorious bandit led to the capture and charging of two men in the murder/robbery of 21-year-old Hare Krishna devotee, Chaitanya Kishundyal who
was attacked and shot by four gunmen on February 4 at his Lot 28 First Street, Swamp Section, Rose Hall, Corentyne.
One of the men is notorious criminal Daniel Mc Lennon, called “Dutty”, 20, of 163 Second Street, Rose Hall Town. Mc Lennon was wanted by the police for a number of misdemeanors and was a suspect in the matter before. He was arrested and subsequently released.
He is one of the masterminds in the staged robbery committed by five men on September 6, 2015 at the home of Tejkumarie Jettoo at Lot 26 Grant, 2757, Crabwood Creek. He was subsequently charged. During the ordeal the woman was severely beaten.
Mc Lennon was the man contacted by the woman’s husband to conduct the robbery at his home. Mc Lennon subsequently contacted his gang members to carry out the dastardly act.
He was subsequently arrested in a car. The police, after receiving certain information and conducting surveillance intercepted a car with a couple inside.
According to information, wanted man Daniel McLennon, called “Dutty” 21 of Rose Hall Town who was jailed in his absence following a robbery committed on the West Bank of Demerara during 2015, was nabbed in a vehicle with his reputed wife, Samantha Bhagwandin.
After he was arrested, it was later learnt that he was wanted for robbing Yoland Elexely on Sunday 26th February of $200,000 at Parika, East Bank Demerara.
The tale of the arrest came about after Mc Lennon reportedly assaulted his reputed wife Bhagwandin who is also well known to the authorities. The woman made a report to the police informing them that her husband has been implicated in the murder/robbery of 21-year old Hare Krishna devotee, Chaitanya Kishundyal who was attacked and shot by four gunmen on February 4.
McLennon subsequently disappeared and the woman changed her story. However, the police put the woman under surveillance and were able to keep a close tab on her as she made contact with “Dutty”. When they were arrested the wife was in the process of taking him out of the area. Samantha Bhagwandin, called “Coolie Girl” 21, of Tain, Corentyne Berbice was charged with attempting to obstruct the course of justice.
She had first given the police information about some of the man’s notorious activities including his involvement in the Rose Hall Town robbery/ murder of Chaitanya Kishundyal.
The woman, a mother of two, is no stranger to the law, having been involved in a number of misdemeanors including theft of a motor car.
