Dear Editor,
I have read and listened to reports concerning the recent incident surrounding the Attorney General in the High Court. I think the whole affair was stage managed for purposes of maligning both the AG, Hon. Judge and by extension, the government. This is a matter that can be easily resolved. It is unfortunate when a distortion occurs in the Court. I know the AG reasonably well. He is a stickler for certain things and his word can be trusted. However, having said this, I believe he has to now operate like his superior, H.E. the President. Some elements in this society need to be vigorously ignored for all they seek is cheap attention. The President does not comment on the mouthings of certain persons. He just let things ride. Our AG should do likewise.
For resolution of the matter and for what it is worth, I feel the AG should at the next sitting of the Court offer a simple apology and put the matter to rest. As regards the matter of the alleged threat which was given much publicity, I feel the AG should do what all aggrieved lawyers do. I can’t advise him on this but he alone knows how best to approach such a matter.
