A rethink should be done on the ban of used tyres

Right now, Guyana is going down. Cost of living is getting higher; all prices have gone up; many businesses are on the verge of closing down; most businesses will tell you sales have dropped by 50 %. Many who have not thought of migrating have to start thinking so. With the ban of used tyres, life will be much worst; gas price might go up with the sliding dollar; transportation will go up; many who are in the used tyre business will lose their job.
In Berbice, it is even worse; rice, sugar, sawmilling are coming to the end. Many homes are thinking how to get three meals a day. Right now with the new law of importing cars of 8 years old and over, cars sales have dropped by 80%. Any dealer will tell you many are already out of business; with new tyres on cars importation will make it far worse
An importer of Japanese cars told me in Japan the used tyre business is big business. Why is it in Guyana used tyres are ban? They also told me the tyres on the cars imported have 75% of life and those tyres are the best for use because those tyres do not sell in shops; no way will a new tyre out last those coming on the imported cars. Guyana is too poor a country not to have cars older than 8 years old. At this time of struggle and hardship, where will the poor find the money to buy new tyres? We do hope people in authority and decision making; think it over for the betterment of the Guyanese people
