Dear Editor,
The small mining syndicate would like to thank the President of Guyana, the Minister of Natural Resources and The Minister within The Ministry of Natural Resources for trying to create initiatives to improve the livelihood of small miners in Guyana.
We would like to thank the Minister of Finance for committing to work with us smaller miners in our pursuit to become tax compliant, while extending to us the concessions that larger miners in the industry receive.
We thank Minister Broomes and Mr. Statia of the GRA for making the time to meet with us, to explain to us the tax measures and address our concerns as small miners. Mining is our business; this is all we know and this is how we support ourselves and families. We thank the Government of Guyana and in particular the Ministry of Natural Resources for the mining syndicate initiative through which we the smaller miners can now get access to mining lands. We will work with the government to become tax compliant, we will adhere to the mining rules and we will mine responsible so as to protect our environment.
