Guyana born Delroy Tyrrell copped five medals at the recently concluded ASATT Invitational Swim Meet which splashed off on Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th of December, at the National Aquatic Centre, Couva, Trinidad.
Tyrrell, swimming under the Tidal Wave Aquatics banner, won gold in the 200m backstroke boys 13-14 age group in a time of 2:27.78 seconds, achieving a Carifta C time in the process. The Guyanese returned to win silver in the 1500 Freestyle (19:11.70) and silver in the 50M backstroke (31.41 secs). Delroy, eager for more, copped two bronze medals in a keenly contested 100M backstroke (1:07.78) narrowly missing the Carifta C time (107.10) and 400M Freestyle (4:44.96).
Delroy Tyrrell has represented Trinidad at four consecutive Goodwill Swim Meets and is anticipating wearing the colours again for the Carifta Swim Championships which will take place in the Bahamas in March 2017. The Swim Meet was won by Tidal Wave Aquatics for the fourth consecutive year.
