Dear Editor,
Our very own Miss World Guyana 2016, Nuriyyih Gerrard will head out to join the Miss World class of 2016 in about 3 weeks or so. There is still so much to be done as we wrap up our preparation season for Miss World Guyana 2016, Nuriyyih Gerrard and add our finishing touches to Guyana’s Beauty with a Purpose campaign – THRIVE.
As many of you may know, this is my 3rd year since acquiring the Miss World Guyana franchise and the prestigious title of National Director for the Miss World brand. It has also been 3 years since I told Miss Julia Morley, Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization that I will bring Guyana its first Miss World crown in 5 years. We’ve 2017 and 2018 left. Looking back now I can see what a big task and huge responsibility it is as well as how little I knew of the industry. Nonetheless, there is so much I am still learning and the fact that we have equally hardworking, determined, passionate and talented young women representing us as a country, makes the journey worthwhile – I couldn’t be more proud.
Time and time again I am reminded that we’ve placed in many areas internationally and more so, nabbed the coveted Miss World Caribbean 2014 and Miss World talent 2015 titles. I cannot overlook the source of our success. We are not in this alone and could not achieve this level of success without your support, guidance, concerns, feedback and advice – even if not this year, sometime in the past. Thank you! We do plan to have a private “bon voyage” send off for Miss World Guyana –lively environment with some last minute good wishes, inspiration and motivation to succeed on the international stage on or around November 15th [more details to follow]. If you can help in any small way, please let me know. I truly believe it takes a village – we are all in this together –working to improve the lives of our young nation
