There is no denying that the cost of living is high. This is essentially a deterrent to many customers being unable to purchase good quality merchandise. As a result, many opt for inferior, low cost items that sometimes don’t last long enough to serve their intended purpose.
Moreover, shopping to many people these days is in fact tantamount to a gamble.
But this is expected to become a thing of the past. At least this is according to Bashir Yasin.
Yasin is a young businessman who has heeded the call of a number of his Guyanese friends to invest in Guyana.
Yasin was born in Jerusalem, Israel, but grew up in the United States Virgin Islands. He has long been involved in the business arena and has been able to establish a chain of stores across the Caribbean. His stores are spread across Barbados, St Lucia, St Vincent and St Martin, just to name a few territories
This enterprising businessman is on the verge of opening the doors of a massive store – American Home and Beauty Center – at the intersection of Robb and Wellington Streets, Georgetown. During the past week, he was eagerly ensuring that the finishing touches were completed to his new store which is expected to be officially opened by Tuesday.
According to Yasin, his desire is to offer nothing but the best quality to Guyanese customers.
He disclosed during a recent interview with Kaieteur News that he took the chance to invest here. He divulged that after visiting this part of the world in March and observing that the Guyanese market was laden with imitation products, he wanted to help make a difference.
“I visited and I immediately saw the need for something new; the Guyana market has so many, many imitation products…there is need for some value for money here,” said Yasin.
He views being able to infiltrate the local market as an opportunity and, according to him, “hopefully people will be able to appreciate value, and this business will be able to thrive.”
When it becomes operational, American Home and Beauty Center will offer customers a wide variety of household items ranging from carpets from Turkey to electrical appliances from the United States. Although the store currently will not carry a wide selection of furniture, Yasin said that just about everything to set up spectacular home decor will be readily available to customers.
And the prices, he assured, will be easy on the customers’ pockets.
“I don’t want to kill the customers; I want them to come back and keep coming back for good deals. I am just hoping that they will be satisfied.”
“From what I understand our products will be as much as half the prices of some of the items already on this market, but of a far better quality,” said Yasin.
Yasin is urging customers to “just come and live the beautiful experience of shopping for quality items at affordable prices.”
The store, according to Yasin, will also soon introduce a Beauty section, which will cater to all hair and body care that can be used by both the ordinary person and the professional.
“Beauty has been my passion for years, so persons will be able to come right here and have all of their needs easily met,” asserted Yasin.
