National awardee, Marjorie Charles, laid to rest
Marjorie Eleanor Charles was laid to rest Tuesday following a church service at Christ Church, Waterloo Street, Georgetown. She died last week Tuesday at the age of 91.

On May 26, 2016 Charles was among other Guyanese stalwarts who were bestowed with national awards. She was given the Medal of Service, the country’s fifth highest award of the Order of Service of Guyana; for her years of dedicated public service.
Charles was also a former coordinator within the People’s National Congress Reform and was involved in Guyana’s political development.
