A Post Mortem examination performed on the remains of Anita Mohan, whose body was discovered in a pool of blood in her Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara home on Sunday, revealed that the woman died from multiple injuries.
The Post Mortem (PM) was done yesterday at the Georgetown Public Hospital by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh.
The victim’s sister, Rosita Sarabjeet, who witnessed the PM, said that there was a wound to the woman’s temple which seemed like it was inflicted with a knife. There is also a chop wound to her head and another on one of her cheeks. The sibling said that it seemed like the suspects sliced off a part of her sister’s lip.
Meanwhile, as it relates to a confession of the victim’s 22-year-old nephew who claimed that she was murdered during a disagreement over payment for drugs.
Sarabjeet said that they were shocked when they learnt that the suspect had told police that the victim sold drugs.
The sibling claimed that Mohan worked hard for a living.
“She bought vegetables and sold it in the village,” the sister insisted.
The woman believes that her sibling was killed as a result of money the suspect had owed her.
“He is a bully. When he doesn’t want to pay that is how he behaves. He always has a problem when he has to pay boarding,” the woman said.
She explained that relatives were shocked when they learnt that it was the woman’s nephew who was the prime suspect.
“It broke our hearts, because she raised him since he was three years old. You could have never tell her anything about him, because she had too much love for him,” Sarabjeet reflected.
As the police continue to interrogate the suspect, they are hunting for his accomplice.
Kaieteur News understands that the suspect claimed that he and his friend “accidentally” killed Mohan.
He told investigators that he and his friend had gone to Mohan’s home earlier in the afternoon to purchase marijuana. They returned later in the evening for more of the weed, but a quarrel reportedly ensued between them and Mohan over payment.
One of the men then reportedly struck the 48-year-old Mohan on the head with a ‘belna’ (rolling pin).
Kaieteur News understands that the relative claimed that they had merely intended to render their victim unconscious. However, Mohan succumbed to her injuries, and the relative reportedly made off with a small sum of cash from the premises.
Police recovered the bloody rolling pin from the scene.
