ECD register 6-wkt win over Upper Corentyne

East Coast Demerara registered a six-wicket victory over Upper Corentyne when the second round of the Guyana Cricket Board Jaguars three-day league ended yesterday.

In pursuit of 117 for victory, ECD resumed on 33-1 having lost Bhaskar Yadram the previous day for 20 and reached their target in the first session for the loss of four wickets at Enterprise.
Gavin Boodwah who resumed on five and Chanderpaul Hemraj added 39 with the left-handed Hemraj smashing four fours and one six before he was taken by Omesh Mathura for 34 off 43 balls. Mathura then uprooted the stumps of Boodwah for 13 before Troy Gonsalves trapped Ramnarine Chatura (00) lbw to leave ECD at 88-4.
But Rajendra Chandrika and Kamesh Yadram took their team home with a fifth-wicket stand of 29. Chandrika faced 27 balls and struck four fours in an unbeaten 31 while Yadram remained not out on eight. Mathura finished with 2-26, while Arif Chan and Gonsalves had one each.
