Dear Editor,
I am writing about the visit of the Indian Action Committee to President Granger to discuss their upcoming play on social cohesion.
These folks are so lucky to get an audience with the President on a matter that exists only in thought and unseen words. How could the President allow himself to be taken in by this group which was formed for a specific purpose but now conveniently changed its name to do some politicking? Wolf in sheep’s clothing?
I think so! In all seriousness,
1. They should have had their skit already written
2. That skit should have been presented to the President’s office
3. That skit should have been read by the staff in the President’s office
and given the ok.
4. Only then should the President give them audience etc.
5. Quote: “Naughton explained that the play, which will also be taken
to other regions across Guyana, seeks to address age-old issues that prevent Guyanese from different ethnic groups from fully understanding and trusting each”
What poppycock is this? Do we not have national radio and national television?
If the President is that serious should he not open the doors for this group to have quick and frequent access to get their brand of the so-called ‘social cohesion’ moving?
6. That term social cohesion is so meaningless and generally not within the grasp of most of the population, that the President would be well advised to change it to more readily understandable terms like race relations, racial inter-grouping, racial commingling or similar terms. Call it what is and work directly on it. Too much obfuscating.
