North R/veldt botched robbery… One suspect discharged, other still hospitalised

Patrick Goodluck, one of the two men who were brutally beaten by residents in North Ruimveldt, when he and an accomplice reportedly tried to rob a resident at gunpoint in his home on Wednesday, has been discharged from the Georgetown Hospital.
Goodluck is in police custody, as detectives continue to investigate the incident.
The second suspect, who has not yet been identified, remains a patient at the hospital under guard.
In a release, the police said that they are investigating an alleged attempted robbery under arms by two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Investigation so far revealed that Roger Lovell was at home sleeping when he was awakened by the men, who demanded cash and jewellery. When the man refused, he was beaten about his head and body.
During the process, he raised an alarm and a group of public-spirited individuals from the community responded and managed to disarm the gunman. They then inflicted a severe beating on the intruders.
Kaieteur News was told that a .32 pistol was recovered from the men by the residents and handed over to the police.
