Abel, Baksh slam tons; Telford, Cambridge shine

Centuries from Eon Abel and Nadir Baksh highlighted
the latest round of matches when the Wolf’s Challenge Softball Cup continued on Sunday in Georgetown.
Abel’s century handed Regal Masters an 18-run victory over Fishermen XI at the Gandhi Youth Organisation ground. Abel slammed 165 to guide Regal to a challenging 253-4 off their allotted 20 overs, batting first. He anchored the innings after Samuel Kingston was forced to retire hurt on 11 following a hit on the eye from pacer Wallack Joseph; Abel hit ten fours and 12 sixes. Fishermen XI responded with 217-9. David Harper grabbed 3-17.
At Malteenoes SC, Baksh century guided Savage XI to a three wicket win over Floodlight. Batting first, Floodlight managed 217-4 with Patrick Khan slamming 93 not out with four fours and ten sixes. Yunnis Yusuf got 49, Imtiaz Mohamed 28 and Dharam Persaud 23. Baksh then stroked four fours and 13 sixes in scoring 114 not out, while Nigel Grannum made 33 and Troy Ramsaywak 22 as Savage ended on 219-4 in 19.5 overs.
Mike’s Wellman overcame HS Masters by 30 runs. Wellman got to 182 all out in 20 overs, taking first strike. Nandram Samlall and Greg De Franca made 42 each ,while Sheldon Adams contributed 25. HS Masters responded with 152-8. Andrew Pooran made 40 and D. Mohamed 35.
Wolf’s Warriors Masters beat Superior Woods by three wickets.
Batting first, Superior Woods scored 106-7 with Bhowanie Ramotour scoring 23 and Amit Kumar 14 not out; Raghunandand Narine, Roshan Ali and Raymond Bisraj claimed two wickets each. Wolf’s Warriors replied with 107-7 in 17.4 overs. Fazil Bacchus got 22, Bisraj 17 not out, Narine 16 and Harrinarine Dhanraj 16 not out.
Peter Persaud snared 3-15 and Dharmindra Mohabir 2-17.
In the female segment, 4R Lioness beat Enterprise 42 runs. 4R Lioness batted first and scored 125-5 in 10 overs. Matanna Cambridge slammed three fours and ten sixes in scoring 80 while Kacia Schultz made 21; Woonnita Khan picked up two wickets while Yougeeta Balkishun and Ashley Singh had one apiece. Enterprise responded with 83-5 in 10 overs. Singh made 17.
Mike’s Wellwoman got the better of Blue Divas by seven wickets. Blue Divas made 132-5 off their quota of 15 overs, taking first knock. Ayesha Cambridge and Jenelle Garraway scored 27 each; Latoya Smith claimed 3-21.
Mike’s Wellwoman responded with 134-3 in 10.3 overs. Zola Telford cracked 72 not out with nine maximums while Joan Vansertima and Aneesa Mohamed got 27 and 21 respectively. Garraway had two wickets.
