Plaisance beat West Ruimveldt B in sudden death penalty shootout

Sports and Academics Academy (ABSAA) U-13 Football Tournament after beating West Ruimveldt-B in sudden death penalty kicks on Saturday, at the Parade Ground.
After regulation time failed to break a 0-0 deadlock, the East Coast-based unit prevailed over their counterparts by a 4-3 score line.
Due to the victory, Plaisance walked away with the championship trophy and medals, while West Ruimveldt-B pocketed the second place accolade and the respective medals.
In the third-place play-off, Tiger Bay squeezed past Eastville also by a 4-3 score line in another penalty shootout after regulation time ended 0-0.
For their effort, Tiger Bay walked away with the respective trophy and medals. Azandee King of Plaisance was awarded the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Kevon Mullings of Tiger Bay copped the Highest Goal Scorer accolade.
In the semi-final rounds, the East Coast of Demerara unit sealed their berth to the final after edging Tiger Bay 4-3, while West Ruimveldt-B progressed to the final 10-9 via sudden death kicks after normal time ended scoreless in their match with Eastville.
Earlier in quarter-finals action, Eastville defeated Tucville by a 2-0 margin, Tiger Bay beat Grove 1-0, Plaisance overcame Kingston 2-1 and West Ruimveldt B gain a walk over from Wortmanville.
Among the other sponsors of the event were the Guyana Football Federation (GFF),Gecom, Samuel Bunbury, James Paul (USA), Puran Brothers Disposal Incorporated, Guinness Bar, Donna Shop, Frontline Hardware Store (Plaisance) and Trophy Stall.
The final standings were:
1st -Plaisance
2nd-West Ruimveldt B
3rd – Tiger Bay
4 th-Eastville
