Newest addition to the bar, Rocky Rabindranath Hanoman (centre) is flanked by Chief Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards and several family members
Rocky Rabindranath Hanoman became the newest admission to the Bar, yesterday afternoon. Presenting his petition before Chief Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards was his father, Lennox Hanoman.
“Rocky Hanoman became the 22nd member of his family, whether by birth, marriage, or association to have entered the profession continuing a genealogical tradition that started with Mr. Stanley Hardyal and Mr. Milton Persaud, both prominent lawyers in Berbice,” Mr Hanoman stated.
Lennox Hanoman was admitted to the Bar before the then Chief Justice, Sir Harold Brodie Smith Bollers. Presenting that petition was Maurice Churaman.
“Some 21 years ago, Mr. Glenn Hanoman, Rocky’s brother, was admitted. I was the presenter and the admitting Judge was Justice of Appeal Maurice Churaman.”
In his admission speech, Rocky Hanoman said, “I have had the benefit of learning from the examples of those who have come before me, and I must give thanks to God today for bringing me to a point where I can become one of their number.”
He said that as a young attorney, the completion of law school does not mark the end of learning for me, but perhaps the end of the beginning.
“I will remain committed to lifelong learning.”
