St Cuthbert’s teen ‘mysteriously’ vanishes from GPHC Psychiatric ward

Uncertainty is the order of the day for one family currently searching for their missing relative,

who is believed to be dead.

Travaun Kattow, 18, of St. Cuthbert ‘s Mission, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, is feared dead after he reportedly vanished on Thursday, from the Psychiatric Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, (GPHC).
According to Kattow‘s relatives, the teen who has a history of mental illness, was admitted to the GPHC unit for some time.
The family said that after much consideration the teen was brought to Georgetown for treatment. The boy‘s father, Hesley Kattow, explained that his son had “trouble with his nerves” for a number of years but the situation became “out of hand.”
“We bring the boy to Georgetown because we think he would get proper treatment but now we hearing that he dead and we can’t find him,” said Kattow.
Mr. Kattow said that before leaving the hospital, the contact information of his son‘s next of kin was documented on the form and handed to attendees. Kattow said that he believes his son was under observation at GPHC, when he received a telephone call.
“The person said he name Alleyne and that my son dead and that he body at Sandy’s Funeral Parlour.” The man said that he left his home on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway and travelled to Georgetown on Sunday in search of his son.
Upon his arrival at GPHC, the man said that he was informed that his son escaped from the Psychiatric Ward.
“The hospital staff tell we that he run away. He fight with the orderly and get away…We check the mortuary and so before we went to the funeral parlour.”

At the parlour, however, Kattow said that his son’s body could not be located.
“The parlour people say that they ain’t got no body. The man cuss up and go on bad, but we want to know how the man from the parlour get the number fuh call and say that my son dead if he ain’t got a body. We look plenty place already so we ain’t know what to do next.”
The family is at a loss as it relates to finding the missing teenager. They are seeking assistance from the members of the public.
