For the past two weeks, passengers using the Supenaam Ferry Stelling, at Good Hope, Essequibo Coast have been encountering delays.
Wednesday afternoon this newspaper received a call informing that some 50 passengers,
most from the Pomeroon River were left stranded at the Supenaam stelling. When asked about the reason for the delay, the caller explained that they were told by workers at the Stelling that the boat is working on a tide system.
Passengers who however would have been facing consistent delays would have assembled at the Stelling for 11:00 hours, which would have been given as the daily schedule departure time. The delay has been causing continuous setbacks especially for passengers who are traveling to the city to do business and more so, those who have appointments with a doctor outside of the Region.
The Supenaam Ferry Stelling was constructed in 2007. It replaced the old Adventure Ferry Stelling. Similarly after the Supenaam Ferry Stelling was put into operation, a number of misfortunes visited the Stelling. Trucks fell into the Essequibo River.
