Don’t rush to judge Minister Harmon
Dear Editor,
Please allow me to express a few concerns in the Minister Harmon issue as a first time writer and a frequent reader of the Kaieteur News.
I have been reading with interest many writers ‘views on this issue. People whom I have a lot of respect for both politically and professionally however, to date and to my knowledge President Granger or Minister Harmon have not held a press conference to discuss the specifics of this case but amazingly a lot of people are assuming and expressing their individual opinion without any evidence other than what was reported in the Press.
Mr Editor I find it difficult to understand how any logical minded individual can conclude on a matter without any firm evidence and seems clearly acting on hear say. I have even recognized persons have gone to the extent of even calling for this gentleman’s resignation without a single thread of evidence.
To my knowledge Mr. Editor, Minister Harmon’s travel would have several explanations whether we choose to accept them or not he is entitled to Natural Justice just like every other citizen of this country also I have personally seen this son of the soil contribute overwhelming to the nation both in the opposition and in Government. The least we can do is allow this gentleman the right to discuss this matter before one can conclude of any wrong doing.
I have not seen Minister Joseph Harmon compromising this nation by virtue of his actions, in fact I cannot conclude that he has or anyone can because the information has still yet not been revealed to the public by way of press Conference or a personal interview. Finally as a young Government, our Ministers are likely to err or fall short at times not that Mr. Harmon has but let us concentrate on how we can build rather than how we can divide. May god continue to bless President David Granger and his administration on the job ahead!

Well, why are we subverting justice. His actions warrant at least an inquiry. So, let the chips fall where they may…..do not suspend them and hope we all have good thoughts about his actions.

Should have held the promised press conference then, should he not?
As of NOW, why haven’t THEY had a press conference to explain to us (the folks who PUT THEM IN POWER) about exactly “what went down” while in China? We are not stupid! “Show me your company and I’ll tell you who you are.” You write of NATURAL JUSTICE for Harmon! What about the SAME NATURAL JUSTICE for the NATION. Who pay their salaries??? Just attempt to interfere with the actions of GRA and see exactly what will happen to YOU!!! This man is such a shyster he NOW wants to SILENCE the SAME vehicle that he USED to voice his concerns while in the opposition! Somebody appears scared of somebody! Do we really have a proxy president??? “GWAN” with that propaganda . . . !!!
