Slain woman at Crane… Two more guards held as cops check new theory
Working on a possible new motive, police have detained two more persons in connection with the murder
Murdered: Latchmin Shivpujan called ‘Radika
of 49-year-old Latchmin Shivpujan, who was stabbed to death on Tuesday in her home at Crane, East Bank Demerara.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum said that the two detained men are security guards. Detectives are reportedly exploring another theory in relation to Shivpujan’s death.
Shivpujan, called ‘Radika’, was a security guard with the Kalibur Investigative and Security Services. Her ex-husband was one of the first persons taken into custody.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman’s spouse has given police an alibi for his whereabouts during the period that Shivpajan was killed.
The mother of two was found lying in a pool of blood, with three stab wounds to the upper body. She is believed to have been slain shortly after midnight on Tuesday, when neighbours heard her screaming in her apartment.
Shivpajan lived alone in the lower flat of a two-storey house but was reportedly frequently visited by male friends.
A resident living a short distance from where the incident occurred recalled that the police were called in during the night, but they only responded “at day clean.”
A few residents described Shivpujan as “a friendly guard lady” who worked a short distance from where she lived.
Mahadai Singh, the slain woman‘s sister, said that she had not spoken to Shivpujan for nearly two decades. Singh said that she and her sister were estranged because she did not approve of Shivpujan’s lifestyle.
