The Guyana Cricket Umpires Council (GCUC) has expressed condolences to the relatives of umpire Gyanand Sukhdeo who passed away yesterday due to kidney failure.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport President of the GCUC Dhieranidranauth Somwaru said the entire council is saddened by the passing of Sukhdeo adding that his services will surely be missed. Somwaru stated that Sukhdeo was a kind hearted and dedicated umpire who was always willing to assist his colleagues especially the young umpires.
Sukhdeo, who was in his early 40s, was a member of the Junior Panel of Umpires of the West Indies Cricket Board and an executive of the GCUC. He officiated as on-field umpire in the WICB Regional age group tournaments and as fourth umpire in Regional first class and Caribbean Premier League T20 matches. He was listed to officiate in the upcoming WICB age group tournaments.
He will be cremated on Sunday at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.
