Motorcyclist dies after struck by speeding car
A 21-year-old man is now dead after being struck by a speeding motor car on the Fort Wellington Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB) on Saturday.
Dead is Ishan Jameer of Tempe Village, WCB.
Information revealed that the driver of motor car bearing licence plate PRR 5367, was proceeding west on the public road at a fast rate at about 18:15 hrs.
The driver lost control of the car resulting in a collision with Jameer who was at the time on his motorcycle that was parked on the southern side of the public road facing east.
As a result of the impact, Jameer was thrown several metres away. The driver ended up on the parapet after the car came to an abrupt halt. Both were taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital for medical treatment.
The driver was admitted to the hospital while Jameer was transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he subsequently died while receiving medical attention.
