Barry Dataram cocaine trial…Magistrate still to rule on summons of News anchor
An application by Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) Prosecutor, to summon News anchor, Travis Chase, and Station manager Nyjel Fraser to attend court to testify in Barry Dataram’s drug trial is yet to be decided on by Magistrate Judy Latchman.

At a previous court hearing, CANU Prosecutor Konyo Sandiford-Thompson made an application for Chase and Fraser to be summoned to bring material evidence in relation to the matter.
On Wednesday, the Magistrate informed the court that she will make a decision on issuing the summons on an adjourned date. She also permitted CANU officer Andrew Yarde to give further evidence in the matter.
Yarde testified that on June 23, 2015, he went to the police analyst at Eve Leary and uplifted a multi-coloured box from Mr. Azore.
The box containing utensils, Yarde said, was taken from Dataram’s house and lodged and CANU headquarters for safe keeping.
Sandiford-Thompson further made an application to have 692 envelopes containing samples of cocaine to be tendered to the court. The application was granted by the Magistrate and the cocaine samples were admitted into evidence.
This matter has been adjourned until May 20.
