Dear Editor,
I write to you in support of Mr. Lennox Cornette as the New CEO for NCN Certain sections of the media are engaged in castigating Mr. Lennox Cornette, I wish to place on record that Mr.Cornette is the current Secretary of the Forest Products Association, a position he has held for the past 4 years. He has performed his duties with professionalism, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility.
I am aware of the GT&T issue with Mr. Cornette. I am also aware that, contrary to what his critics are trying to suggest, the issue has nothing to do with money or financial impropriety. It was for his personal welfare and this was trashed out with his boss. After this the GT&T still asked of him for assistance. Mr. Cornette has distinguished himself as more than a Secretary and has brought communication, project planning and design, and proposal writing skills to the organisation. He has been the main architect behind the FPA’s recent successful proposals to access funds from international donors.
Mr. Cornette is also a resource to the forest sector. He served as the Co-chair of the Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Sub-committee of the National Technical Working Group (NTWG). This group is responsible for overseeing the European Union, Forest Legality Enforcement Governance and Trade (EU/FLEFT) programme in Guyana, for which stakeholder engagement and communication are prerequisites for its implementation.
I find Mr. Cornette’s personal attributes to be exemplary. He is highly dependable, analytical in his approach, and, constructive in his criticisms and will deliver NCN to higher heights. This is what the NCN board saw, they not only need a broad caster but a manager with vision and Mr. Panday laid it out beautifully upon the selection of the best candidate.
As Mr. Cornette takes up his appointment as CEO of the National Communications Network, I wish him well and thank him for his contribution to the FPA.
Deonarine (Ricky) Ramsaroop
Vice President, Forest Products Association
