Inducted as 158th Honorary Member
Indian High Commissioner V. Mahalingam last week paid a Courtesy call on the Management and members of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, MS at the St. Francis Community Developers Head office. The High
Commissioner was inducted as the Club’s 158th Honorary member by Organising Secretary Keith Hicks during the visit.
Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster led the Club’s delegation which included Assistant Secretary/CEO Franklyn Ross, Organising Secretary Keith Hicks, Assistant Organising Secretary Ravindranauth Kissoonlall and executive member Lucy Pike. The long serving Secretary/CEO provided a comprehensive update of the Club’s history, achievements, list of activities and plans for the future to the impressed High Commissioner. Mr. Mahalingam noted that areas of cooperation between the Club and the Indian High Commission including assistance of cricket gears, formation of a permanent relationship with an Indian NGO among others.
The High Commissioner expressed his admiration of the Club and its achievements over the years. He expressed the hope that the RHTYSC, MS would uphold the rather high standard it has set itself and congratulated the Club on its historic achievement of receiving the National Award – The Medal of Service from the Government of Guyana. He also expressed gratitude to the Club for inducting him as an honorary member and pledged to work along with the organisation to make a positive difference.
Mr. Mahalingam at the end of his presentation made a financial donation to the work of the Club. Organising Secretary/CEO Keith Hicks accepted the timely donation and expressed gratitude to the High Commissioner, while reassuring him that the funds would be used for the Club’s cricket development programme. Members of the Club also presented the visiting High Commissioner with several gifts.
