Dear Editor,
The citizenry of Guyana voted for meaningful change from the corrupt and autocratic PPP regime. I know that I for one had bought into the promises of transparency and accountability. Minister Harmon has made a sham of our expectations.
His unilateral decision to hire Brian Tiwari who we all view, as an individual who looks out for himself and does not have the interest of the people at heart It leads us to question the motives of Mr. Harmon. How can such a decision be made without consulting with President Granger and the Cabinet. It smacks of arrogance and disdain for the populace.
He again displayed his arrogance and despotism when he countermanded the order of the GRA to punish BaiShanLin for circumventing the Laws of Guyana. He was elected to abide by and protect our Laws, not to subvert them. Finally he shows us what he thinks of us when he decides not to show up for the press conference.
Such contempt should not be tolerated. I call on President Granger and his Cabinet to immediately fire Mr. Harmon from this Government. This will send a clear message to other Senior Civil Servants that their conduct is under scrutiny. I also call on the AFC and WPA arms of the coalition to vociferously support such a call.
