Dear Editor,
The Bartica United Youth Development Group (BUYDG) will like to congratulate Mr. Gifford Marshall, who was the only nominee that was elected Mayor and Ms. Kamal Persaud, who was also the only nominee, duly elected Deputy Mayor the BUYDG also congregate the councilors. The election took place at Bartica Community Centre. For the first time Bartica have a Mayor and Deputy Mayor Bartica recently gain township status. Yesterday the Town Council held its first meeting after the March 18th local government elections.
The BUYDG encourages the Mayer, Deputy Mayer and all the councilors to work to the best of their ability in the interest of the residents of Bartica in a productive and non-corrupt manner so that Bartica can be move from where it is to a very high level. Since BUYDG believes that Bartica have a long way to go as it relates to general development.
Bartica/Region 7 should be have been the most developed community/region in Guyana since Bartica/Region 7 is one of the highest and main tax contributors that contributes 50% of the revenue that goes to the treasury of Guyana. As such money should not just generate and produce from the resources of Region 7 and go out of Bartica/ Region 7 to develop the other Regions in Guyana but a lot of the money generated should be use to enhance grater development in Bartica/Region 7.
The Residents of Bartica had voted on March 18 th 2016 for general development, transparency and proper accountability etc. The APNU+AFC Government just as it did in the General and Regional Elections, it again won the majority vote cast by the residents on March 18th local government elections as such the BUYDG will be holding all of the persons elected accountable for any further lack of development in the Bartica/Region7. Not forgetting that the same persons elected took oath to serve the resident of Bartica.
The BUYDG hopes that the Mayor’s and Councilors will address concerns of the residents on the spot and will not operate by a remote control that may be used by central government since they won the majority seats of the local government election under the umbrella of APUN+AFC Government. Thank you in anticipation for publishing the BUYDG letter.
Micah Williams
General President
