Dear Editor,
As a Guyanese who is residing in Florida, I must tell you that I read the Kaieteur News almost every day and I am quite pleased with its content. It keeps me abreast of what is going on in Guyana and to me, that’s really important. I read mostly Freddie Kissoon and Peeping Tom and on the weekends I read the Editor’s article (Adam Harris) and the Ron Saunders article. My on-line reading also covers the news and Letters to the Editor, which I find very interesting. Perhaps, the only thing lacking for me is that I am unable to respond to articles as they appear on line, because although I mostly agree with Freddie, sometimes I strongly disagree with him and would really like to make my views known. Freddie says that he loves Guyana but there are times when the tone of his articles (some of them) suggests otherwise. He is sometimes very negative about Guyana and basically sees it as a country with no hope for betterment.
Sometimes I want to respond to such articles, but there is no way for me to do it, other than write a Letter to the Editor, which may or may not be published. However, I prefer to leave a comment under the article but it appears that this cannot be done.
However, I believe that Freddie is doing an excellent job of analyzing and clarifying the existing political landscape, but Guyana has a future and he should also be aware of that. Peeping Tom is also somewhat controversial and I would like to respond to him as well but like I said, the opportunity isn’t there. But all in all, I am quite pleased with the Kaieteur News—you can’t get everything. Rudyard Vyfhuis
