The Tyndall family of Grant Providence in the Lower Pomeroon River is now forced to seek assistance from the public to rebuild their lives after they lost their house Wednesday evening to a fire, the origin of which is yet to be determined.
Arthur Tyndall said that he was attending a funeral some distance from his community and his wife had gone to a back dam in the Pomeroon River to pick mangoes. Tyndall, who said he does not know how the fire started, mentioned that his wife told him that she first noticed smoke emanating from the house during her journey back home.
He said that before she could have reached home and attempt to save her household amenities, the house was quickly engulfed in flames.
Tyndall added that while everything from his washing machine, gas stove, television set, chairs, bed and sewing machine were all destroyed in the fire, he barely managed to save his generator and the clothes that he and his family were wearing at the time of the fire.
A report was lodged with the police at the Charity Outpost.
Tyndall is a father of seven. Some of his children were at school while the others were at home but because almost everyone in the community had gone to a funeral in the Pomeroon River, no neighbors were at home to help fight the fire. (Yannason Duncan)
