Tagore Memorial, Uitvlugt, Cummings Lodge and Annadale registered victories when the Guyana Cricket
Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd’s Coco Cola and Rainforest Water along with Digicel continued recently.
At Tagore Memorial Secondary ground, the home team cruised pass Central Corentyne Secondary by seven wickets. Central Corentyne won the toss and chose to bat but could only get to 118 before they were dismissed in the 16th over. Only Ajai Hemraj with 23 offered any resistance as Vikash Gajadar claimed 4-18, while Antonio February had 3-17.
In reply, Tagore Memorial raced to 122-3 in just 11.1 overs with February scoring 46 including six fours and two sixes, while Dineshwar Budhoo made 25 not out. Colwayne Lyte claimed 2-15.
At Wales, Uitvlugt crushed Patentia Secondary by seven wickets in a low scoring affair. Batting first, Patentia Secondary limped to 84 all out in 15 overs with Reaz Khan claiming 4-12.
Uitvlugt Secondary replied with 85 in 9.2 overs, losing only three wickets in the process. Dodi Oselmo struck 21; Hemraj Persaud took 2-19.
Over at Enterprise ground in the first semi-final of the East Coast Demerara Zone, Cummings Lodge demolished Lusignan Secondary by 127 runs. Batting first, Cummings Lodge Secondary amassed 149-9 off their reduced quota of 15 overs. Reaz Mohamed stroked 44 and Renaldo Mohamed 18; Danzil Daniels took 3-5 in one over, while Ijaz Williams had 2-29.
Lusignan Secondary 27 in 12.3 overs in reply. Robin Williams made 22 as Prakash Debidyal took 3-16 and
Reaz Mohamed 3-18.
In the Second semi-final played at the said venue, Annandale got the better of La Bonne Intention Secondary by 46 runs. Batting first, Annandale Secondary compiled 111-9 in 15 overs. Tyrese Assanah got 16 while Chandrika Ramsammy snared 3-22, while Nankumar Kishun had 2-22.
In reply, La Bonne Intention Secondary was dismissed for just 65 in 14.4 overs. Assanah was the chief destroyer returning impressive figures of 5-10.
Matches continue tomorrow with Annandale facing Cummings Lodge in the East Coast Demerara Zone final. In the Corentyne Zone, Port Mourant will host Winifred Gaskin and Manchester will do battle against Lower Corentyne at Albion, while Hope will challenge Mahaicony at Fairfield in the Mahaica- Mahaicony Zone final.
