Glenfield Dennison
Georgetown Public Hospital after undergoing surgery to remove bullets from his body.
The 30-year-old Belize national is reportedly in stable condition at the medical facility. He was shot twice by a gunman in Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara last Thursday. Dennison reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and left hand at about 21:30 hours, moments after he had dropped off his girlfriend at her home.
The girlfriend is also a student of the University.
According to reports, Dennison was about to ride off when the gunman walked up to him and fired shots. He was picked up and rushed to the hospital where he was immediately admitted.
This newspaper had learnt that the Belizean law student had been unresponsive for a number of days, even after undergoing surgery. However, a source close to the injured man has recently confirmed that he has started to show signs of improvement.
This newspaper was also informed that since investigators reportedly ruled out robbery as a motive for the attack on Dennison, a number of persons with close connections to him, were taken in for questioning by the police.
According to initial reports, nothing was taken from Dennison after he was shot and the police received a call from unknown persons who informed them of the shooting in the Cummings Lodge area, on Thursday.
Last week’s shooting incident has since captured the attention of the Belizean authorities. Kaieteur News had learnt that officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry have been in contact with their Belizean counterparts as part of efforts to investigate the incident.
