Banks DIH under their brand Premium Beer in collaboration with the East Coast Demerara Cricket Association (ECDCA) on Sunday last launched a T20 knockout tournament at Enmore Community Center.

18 teams will battle for supremacy from Sunday with the winning team taking home a trophy and $200,000, runner up a trophy and $100,000 and losing semi finalists a trophy and $50,000 each. The man of the match and the player that effect the play of the day in the final will pocket $20,000 and $5,000 respectively.
Chairman of the ECDCA Tejnauth Jadunauth thanked the sponsors and encouraged the teams to maintain a high level of discipline. Secretary of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Anand Sanasie said he is happy to see cricket being played on a regular basis in the area adding that the GCB is always willing to assist. He lauded Banks DIH and congratulated the ECDCA.
Also present at the launching ceremony was West Indies star batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul who spoke about discipline and urged the teams to respect the umpires’ decision. Chanderpaul gave some helpful tips to the captains present and wished them well.
Banks DIH Premium beer Brand manager Shameer Shabid stated that they are happy to be associated with the game in the area and will make it an annual event.
“Losing hurts, but winning is nothing if it brings out the worst in you,” he posited.
Among the teams set to battle are Tiger’s XI, Ogle, Strathavon, Enmore and Fairfield.
