Guyana’s premier distance runner, Cleveland Forde cashed in again yesterday at Massy Group of Companies (AINLIM) 10km Road Race for the sixth consecutive time, proverbially re-branding the event as his own in the process.

The respective winners from the AINLIM 10km Road Race yesterday morning pose for a photo opportunity with the staff and management of the Massy Group of Companies after the presentation ceremony.
Forde won the race that started at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, making its way across the Demerara Harbour Bridge to finish in front of the Ruimveldt Headquarters of the Massy Group in Georgetown in 33:15 with no opposition.
Forde, uncharacteristically, ran from the front, taking an early lead at Goed Fortuin before going ahead for good 200m into the Harbour Bridge. Cleveland Thomas finished second in 33:58 with Winston Missenger third in 34:38 minutes.
Nathaniel Giddings and Devon Barrington rounded out the top five in 35:17 and 35:27 minutes respectively. Forde held on to his irreversible lead of approximately 70m at Eccles, East Bank Demerara to further establish his dominance in road racing in Guyana.
Meanwhile, Alika Morgan won the female race in the absence of 2014 Champion Euleen Josiah-Tanner. Josiah-Tanner who won AINLIM 10k race four times, could not make the event owed to problems with her flight to Guyana from the United States.
Morgan won in 42:48 ahead of Andrea Foster (43:52), who just returned from participating at the World Championships, in Beijing, after being gifted with the opportunity. Alicia Jack finished in the third position in 44:18 minutes.
Shion Boyer (49:35) and Nikita Wilson (52:32) rounded out the top five. The female times in the race were particularly slow. Matthew McKenzie was the winner of the Junior Boy’s category while finishing sixth overall in a time of 35:32 minutes. Odwin Tudor was second in that category in 35:43 while Samuel Lynch finished third in 40:43 minutes.
Shontel Hinds won the Junior Girls race in 45:23 minutes while Mariah McKenzie was second in 45: 54 minutes. Yolit Charles was third in 50: 22 minutes. Llewellyn Gardner won the Men’s 56 and Over Master’s race in 43:12 minutes as Larry Josiah took the Men 40 and Over category in 40:01 minutes.
Cyrleen Phillips won the Female’s Masters category in 50:22 minutes. The respective winners were awarded cash prizes and trophies after the race.
