The Guyana Delegation to the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles California which consists of four athletes and two officials, made a good start to their sojourn at these games. Three athletes have won medals in their events on Wednesday July 29, 2015. The athletes are competing in athletics which are held at the Locker Stadium/Cromwell Field, University of South California.
Aneisa Bowman won silver in her 400M Division2 event, while Deandra David won bronze in her 400M division 4 event and Kevin Pryce placed 4th in the 400M and won a silver medal in the 200M division 8 event. Yesterday Calvin Thomas gave Guyana a silver medal by placing 2nd in the 3000M, Division 5 event. Guyana has so far 3 silver and 1bronze medal.
Because of extremely hot sunny conditions the 3000M in which Calvin Thomas competed in, had to be postponed to yesterday. Thomas’s next event will be 5000M which is scheduled for today along with the 200M events for the females.
The team will compete in mixed 4x400M relay tomorrow.
