US arrest two Guyanese crewmen, seize vessel in 215-lb coke bust
Two Guyanese crew members have been arrested and a fishing vessel seized after US authorities found a significant quantity of cocaine during a high seas bust.
US authorities have detained this Guyana fishing vessel after cocaine was found on board.
According to a statement of Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS), a media and public relations operation run by the United States Third Army, the arrests took place on July 2, about 170 nautical miles south of the Dominican Republic.
Involved in the seizure was the Coast Guard Cutter, Dauntless.
Officials boarding the Chrispoph found approximately 215 pounds of cocaine and apprehended three Jamaican and the two Guyanese smugglers.
The vessel, drugs and crew were all taken to San Juan, Puerto Rico on Saturday where special agents from the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force are now preparing to lay charges.
