Jaguars and St. Lucia set for the Guyana National Stadium Providence, the Technical Staff of the Jaguars have added two more Under-23 players to the lineup.
Jermaine Junior of Fruta Conquerors and Delano Mentore, originally from Port Kaituma and now playing for Slingerz FC, have joined the Jaguars.
In drafting in the two players, Head Coach of the Golden Jaguars and the National Under-23 teams, Jamaal Shabazz commented: “Junior is quite a character; he is quick and explosive and is a pretty fast learner. Delano has a touch of gold, it may be early days yet but he can be the future Shawn ‘Fatso’ Bishop that our football needs.”
Shabazz noted that the players have talent but are in need of international exposure for them to materialize into real players.
“I am very eager to throw these young Jags into the wild world of international football,” Shabazz stated.
Meanwhile, foreign based duo, Brandon Beresford and Jamaal Smith have also linked up with the Golden Jaguars. Beresford is a skillful midfielder who plays with Graceland College in the USA and is no stranger to the Jaguars having played with Guyana’s flagship team before.
Smith, who played in the February 2-2 draw with Barbados is a 6ft plus centre back who has been involved with the Golden Jaguars since 2012 and played with great heart during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
