Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday released a man on $10,000 bail for using threatening language to a woman.
Shawn Albert, 35, of Maria Elizabeth Mines, Upper Demerara River, who is accused of using threatening language to Vanessa Daniels, pleaded not guilty to the charge when the matter was called yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
James who stood and spoke from the prisoner’s dock told the court that he was drinking and had passed where the virtual complainant (VC) was and they had a “high talk”.
Police Prosecutor Michael Grant informed the court that the defendant was brought before the court more than five years ago for assaulting the same woman, whom he had claimed was his spouse; however the VC refuted that she and the defendant ever had a relationship.
Albert, who told the court that he was a shoemaker, was ordered to post bail in the sum of $10,000.
He will make his next court appearance on February 17, at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
