Miner hospitalised after attack by bandits
A miner has been hospitalised after an attempted robbery late Saturday night on Thomas Street, Georgetown. Currently being treated at a city hospital is 34 year-old Andre D’Abreu who, in the company of another miner Jason Ramjattan, was attacked and robbed by two gunmen.
Reports say that the miners were chatting on the Thomas Street roadway when they were assaulted by the gunmen. D’Abreu was then shot to his left side, which allowed the bandits to escape with an undisclosed sum of cash from his vehicle and Ramjattan’s cell phone.
The 34 year-old was then rushed to a city hospital. Police are currently carrying out investigations.
