Dear Editor,
I watched my grandfather cringe every time the never ending abuse of squibs and those bomb-like devices being thrown at the midnight hour welcoming the new year 2015.
I watched my 95-year-old grandfather cringe and tears flow from his eyes each time my demonic neighbour who lives four doors away from us blasted his boom box from his vehicle as if he alone was living in the area on New Year’s Day.
I watched my dog run from one corner to another, stark terror in his eyes trying to evade the horrid sounds of those punishing squibs. Then I sadly asked myself what did the Guyanese do to be saddled with such a sadistic administration? Why do we have to endure this added burden in the form of a useless, uncaring, hate filled Home Affairs Minister who continues to fail miserably in this capacity?
Why doesn’t he remove those stupid boom boxes from all vehicles? Isn’t this one of the main contributors to the many gruesome accidents on our roads?
Why can’t this administration understand how damaging noise is to citizens especially our seniors and very young children, and to the working class people. Animals should not be forgotten. Where is our Health Minister to speak out on this atrocity?
Will this be allowed to continue for 2015 or will some effort be made to ease the suffering of people all over this country?
HEAVEN HELP US ALL IF WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS ADMINISTRATION FOR ANOTHER FIVE YEARS. R. Kumar
