China has approved a $40M grant that is to be used to equip the police force.
The money was announced yesterday by Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr. Roger Luncheon, who said that Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee, will be charged with submitting a plan on how to spend the money.
According to Luncheon, the money will be going to the Ministry with the intention of a special programme being developed by Rohee to pinpoint the type of equipment to be purchased.
In recent years, Guyana has been turning more and more to the Chinese, and to a lesser extent, India, for financing for a number of projects.
