DEAR EDITOR,
Nice article by Dale Andrews “I was a victim of Guyana’s drug trafficking reputation”, but the reality is much more in my opinion:
1. Dale Andrews was most polite and kind in his report, but I disagree that he was a victim of Guyana’s drug trafficking reputation;
2. However, Dale Andrews being a kind person, would not dare to call the situation he suffered for what it clearly was;
3. In my opinion Dale Andrews, and I suspect that he himself finally realized it, was the victim of malicious information passed on to the Aruba Customs and Immigration personnel. Whoever sent it full well knew of his place of employment (KN), and that he was heading out to the US on vacation;
4. I base this on:
a) the manner in which he was singled out on arrival and also on my personal observations during my travels when I see authorities immediately approach a disembarking passenger. That in my opinion is a clear indication that they had advanced info and wanted to move in early;
b) the obvious pretences made to Dale and which he himself recognized as he was ushered from one officer to another, for these officers believed that the info previously given to them was true and reliable.
Dale Andrews should be compensated for the additional costs he incurred and should take this matter up with the US Embassy in Georgetown. They could compensate him, or in the alternative, give him the offices to which he could send his requests for compensation. Remember KN is under attack and there will be no-holds-barred applicable!
