DEAR EDITOR,
I read in yesterday’s newspaper that the police were ready to send the file on the Nandlall matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice. I do hope that there is no hanky-panky in this process.
The police have been known to abdicate their responsibility whenever they are dealing with controversial matters by flippantly claiming that the files are with the DPP.
On the other hand we have had cases where the DPP upon receipt of a file would send it back to the police for further investigations, resulting in undue delay in the application of justice.
I hope that the Nandlall matter will not be treated in this football-like fashion which could lead to it dying a natural death like so many other matters involving senior government officials.
This nation is watching. Marcus Faria
